Label-less U.K. rock icon Morrissey will play his first live dates in two years this summer, beginning Aug. 1 in Salt Lake City. So far, only a handful of West Coast shows are set, including a three-night September stand opening for Mexican rock act Jaguares in California. As previously reported, Morrissey will also play Japan's Summer Sonic Festival in mid-August.

Jaguares manager Marusa Reyes told Mexico's Reforma newspaper this week that Morrissey accepted the offer to open the September shows after a single phone conversation. "Everything was very simple and for the band, it represents that they have been accepted," Reyes said.

Morrissey has not released a new studio album since 1997's "Maladjusted" (Mercury), and although he is rumored to be signing a new contract with Sanctuary, a label spokesperson said no information about a prospective deal has been finalized.
