Nick Cave Prepping Double Album

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are eyeing a September release on Mute for their 13th studio album, a two-disc set titled "Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus." It's the first album since the departure of longtime guitarist Blixa Bargeld, but features longtime Cave collaborators such as producer Nick Launay, multi-instrumentalist Mick Harvey, violinist Warren Ellis and bassist Martyn Casey, among others.

The upcoming set is the follow-up to 2003's "Nocturama," which debuted at No. 8 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. It will be supported by a fall tour, which so far includes four U.K. dates, beginning Nov. 6 in Glasgow.

Following the recent release of the retrospective DVD "The Videos," Cave is prepping an album of B-sides and rarities for a Feb. 7, 2005, release, according to his official Web site. The group's "People Ain't No Good," drawn from 1997's "The Boatman's Call," is currently featured on Geffen's soundtrack to "Shrek 2."

Finally, Cave has co-written three tracks with Marianne Faithfull for her upcoming album, "The Mystery of Love." The set is tripped to feature five co-writes with Polly Jean Harvey, plus additional collaborations with Jon Brion and Blur's Damon Albarn.
