Rihanna's New Album Is 'Rated R'

After much speculation, Def Jam Records announced today (Oct. 20) that Rihanna will be releasing her fourth studio album, "Rated R," on Nov. 23.

Rihanna released her latest single, a dark ballad titled "Russian Roulette," on her official website (rihannanow.com) today (Oct. 20) at 11:23 a.m. EST. The Ne-Yo penned and produced song is a metaphor about what seems to be a dysfunctional relationship, with speculations that it might actually be about her former, real-life relationship with Chris Brown.

"Take a breath, take it deep / Calm yourself, he says to me / If you play, you play for keeps / Take the gun, and count to three," Rihanna advises over a pulsating beat. "Say a prayer to yourself / he says close your eyes, sometimes it helps / and then I get a scary thought / that he's here, which means he's never lost," she continues before the chorus comes in.

"And you can see my heart beating / you can see it through my chest / I'm terrified, but I'm not leaving / know that I must pass this test, so just pull the trigger, " she belts.

Before the song ends with her taking deep breathes and a gun being cocked and fired, Rihanna sings on the bridge: "As my life flashes before my eyes / I'm wondering will I ever see another sunrise / So many won't get the chance to say goodbye / but its too late to pick up the value of my life."

As reported earlier, "Russian Roulette" is the first single off Rihanna's upcoming, fourth studio album, "Rated R," which will be released on Nov. 23 via Def Jam Records. An accompanying video to the song, directed by Anthony Mandler, will premiere on ABC soon.
