NBC Thinks It Loves Cassidy Biopic

NBC is getting happy about a new David Cassidy telefilm. The actor/singer will executive-produce "David Cassidy And The Partridge Family Years," a biographical movie that traces Cassidy's life from boyhood to pop stardom. NBC will air the film, which is in preproduction, during the 1999-2000 season.

The telepic's soundtrack will include popular "Partridge Family" music, including such Cassidy hits as "I Think I Love You," "C'mon Get Happy," and "I Woke Up In Love This Morning."

The film will cover some of the material in Cassidy's 1994 autobiography, "C'mon, Get Happy: Fear And Loathing On The Partridge Family Bus," but will not be based on the book.

"The Partridge Family" aired on ABC from 1970-74.

Cassidy made a return to music in 1990, when he reached No. 136 on the Billboard 200 with his eponymous Enigma set. His most recent set, "Old Trick New Dog," was released last year on Slamajama Records.
