Mountain Sessions Enliven New McKay Album

Singer/songwriter Nellie McKay decamped to a studio in the Pocono Mountains of northeast Pennsylvania to record her new album, "Obligatory Villagers." The nine-track set is due Sept. 25 via the artist's own Hungry Mouse label.

Among the collaborators are jazz veterans Phil Woods and David Liebman, as well as vocalist Bob Dorough, best known for his work with the "Schoolhouse Rock" cartoons.

"Obligatory Villagers" is the follow-up to last year's "Pretty Little Head," which debuted at No. 10 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart. McKay has no tour dates on her upcoming schedule but will make a July 30 appearance on "The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson."

Here is the track list for "Obligatory Villagers":

"Mother of Pearl"
"Oversure"
"Gin Rummy"
"Livin"
"Identity Theft"
"Galleon"
"Politan"
"Testify"
"Zombie"
