moe. Plans Lake Placid 'Snoe.down'

Veteran jam band moe. is planning to host a March 17-19 festival in Lake Placid, N.Y. Snoe.down will open the Adirondack Almost Springfest event in the resort town that hosted the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games.

At deadline, moe. is the only confirmed act. The group will headline March 17 and 18 shows at Herb Brooks Arena, where fans will be able to ice skate during the show. Other artists will be added to those bills, as well as at other venues in the area.

In addition to nighttime music, daytime activities will include skiing and snowboarding at nearby Whiteface Mountain, bobsled and luge rides and speed skating, as well as visits to the top of Whiteface via gondola and tours of the Olympic ski jump towers and the 1932 & 1980 Winter Olympic Museum.

Snoe.down is being organized by Great Northeast Productions, which handled similar chores for several large festivals staged by defunct jam band Phish. Tickets go on sale Oct. 3. Full details of prices and package deals will be posted soon at moe.'s official Web site.

In addition to a berth on the inaugural bill for Las Vegas' Vegoose festival, moe. will co-headline a West Coast tour with Gov't Mule that opens Oct. 12-13 in Portland, Ore., and stretches through an Oct. 26-27 stand in San Diego.
