Moby Drafts Famous Pals For 'Stars' Video

Electronic music maven Moby has teamed up with director Joseph Kahn (U2, Janet Jackson) on the video for "We Are All Made of Stars," the first single from his forthcoming V2/Mute album "18." The star-studded clip, shot on location in throughout Los Angeles, features the likes of former Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, actress Thora Birch, guitarist Dave Navarro, and actor Corey Feldman.

According to a Mute spokesperson, Moby is seen wearing a spacesuit and assuming the guise of a distant and removed spaceman who has come down to Earth. He lands in L.A. and observes Hollywood in both its most banal and cinematic moments. "It might sound odd, but Joseph Kahn is an amazing director," Moby says.

A commercial single for "We Are All Made of Stars" arrives April 29 internationally, with no North American release date confirmed. It will be backed with the non-album tracks "Soul To Love" and "Landing," the latter of which sports vocals from Azure Ray. The single has also been remixed for club play by Timo Maas, DJ Tiesto, Bob Sinclair, and Moby himself.

"18," the follow-up to 1999's multi-platinum "Play," boasts guest appearances from Sinead O'Connor, Angie Stone, and MC Lyte, among others. The 18-track set is due sometime in May, with Moby expected to reprise last year's Area: One tour this summer. As previously reported, the artist is also hosting a 30-minute MTV show, "Senor Moby's House of Music," which airs Saturday nights at midnight ET.
