Mirwais, who recently achieved notoriety as producer of the hit Madonna single "Music," will see his album "Production" released Feb. 27 in the U.S. by Epic. The set, which has been out for some time internationally, is preceded by the hypnotic single "Naive Song," currently released to U.S. DJs for club play.

"Production" features the European single "Disco Science," which is also on the soundtrack to "Snatch," a film directed by Madonna's new husband, Guy Ritchie. The set also includes "Paradise (Not For Me)," a collaboration with Madonna that also appeared on her Maverick/Warner Bros. album "Music," for which Mirwais produced a total of six tracks.

A prominent figure in France's electronica scene, Mirwais fronted the group Taxi Girl in the 1980s, and through the 1990s played in his girlfriend's acoustic group Juliette Et Les Independants. "Our music was very melodic," he says of the group, "but had little audience in France where they prefer things like Celine Dion."

He came to the attention of Madonna through a tape of "Disco Science" passed along to her Maverick partner Guy Oseary. "I love to work with the weirdoes that no one knows about," Madonna told Billboard's Larry Flick in July, "the people who have raw talent and who are making music unlike anyone else out there." Mirwais inspired her to "be so open and vulnerable. I've grown to trust him implicitly. He's so incredibly smart and visionary. I listen to his stuff, and I think, 'This is the future of sound.'"

The song "Music" is nominated for a pair of Grammy awards -- record of the year and best female pop vocal performance. The album is nominated for best pop vocal album and best recording package.C
