"The Essential Michael Jackson" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment) has given the late singer his longest consecutive run atop the U.K. album chart. Yesterday's (Sunday) new sales figures from the Official Chart Company also saw East London "grime" star Tinchy Stryder secure a second consecutive No. 1 single with "Never Leave You" (4th & Broadway/Universal Island), featuring Sugababes member Amelle.

The Jackson compilation is now in its sixth week at the U.K. summit, overtaking the five consecutive weeks achieved by "Thriller" in 1983 and "Bad" in 1987. "Thriller" had two other weeks at the top before that run, and one more in early 1984, for a non-consecutive total of eight, but "The Essential" now has his longest unbroken bestselling sequence.

"Bad," meanwhile, benefited from its inclusion in retail chain HMV's summer price reductions campaign. Now available there and elsewhere for £3.99 (about $6.65), it races back onto the U.K. chart at No. 9. "Bad" reached No. 59 immediately after Jackson's death, but this is its highest ranking in the territory since early 1989. The late singer is also in the new top 20 with the Jackson 5 on "The Motown Years" (Motown/Universal), down 8-15, and "Thriller," down 11-17.

Florence and the Machine's "Lungs" (Universal Island) started a notable fifth week at No. 2 on the new album chart. Black Eyed Peas' one-week reign with the single "I Gotta Feeling" came to an end as it fell to No. 2, but the album "The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies)" held at No. 3, and Paolo Nutini's "Sunny Side Up" (Atlantic/Warner Music) was steady at No. 4. Beyoncé's "I Am...Sasha Fierce" (Columbia/SonyMusic Entertainment) rose 12-5 (its highest ranking since May, with the single "Sweet Dreams" up again 6-5) and dance act Chicane's "Best Of" (Modena) climbed 14-10. U.K. electronic pop act Frankmusik debuted at No. 13 with "Complete Me" (Universal Island) and midlands rock band the Twang's sophomore set "Jewellery Quarter" (B Unique) opened at No. 20.

Tinchy Stryder's new singles success with Amelle follows a three-week run at the top for "Number 1," featuring N-Dubz, in May. That single is still in the top 40, falling 28-32. Stryder's second album "Catch 22" is due out in the U.K. next Monday (17).

Ian Carey Project's "Get Shaky" (All Around The World/Universal), the American DJ's international dance hit, debuted at No. 10. The single spent two weeks at No. 2 in Australia early this year. There were top 20 climbs for Eminem's "Beautiful" (Interscope/Universal), up 31-12, Little Boots' "Remedy" (sixsevenine), 33-14, and Sean Kingston's "Fire Burning" (RCA/Sony Music Entertainment), 29-17.

On Billboard's European Top 100 Albums chart, Jackson replaced himself at the top, as "The Collection" moved 2-1 to trade places with "King of Pop." Pitbull is in a third week at No. 1 on Eurochart Hot 100 Singles with "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" (Ultra/B1).
