Black Eyed Peas, already boasting the longest successive stay at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 with 17 weeks in total for "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling" (Interscope/Universal), jumped 3-1 in the U.K. with the latter single yesterday (2). "The Essential Michael Jackson" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment) started a fifth week atop the album chart.

"I Gotta Feeling" follows the two non-consecutive weeks that "Boom Boom Pow" had at No. 1 in the U.K. in May and June. It's the Peas' third No. 1 in the territory, where they ruled for six weeks in 2003 with "Where Is The Love?" The current single ended JLS' two-week stay at the top with "Beat Again" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment), which fell to No. 2, while "Supernova" (Mercury/Universal) by Mr. Hudson featuring Kanye West dipped 2-3.

Pitbull's "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" (Positiva/Virgin/EMI) made another climb, 7-4, with Beyoncé's "Sweet Dreams" (Columbia/Sony Music Entertainment) also up again 9-6. Chipmunk's "Diamond Rings" (Jive), featuring Emeli Sande, moved back 12-11 and AC vocalist John Barrowman's cover of Barry Manilow's "I Made It Through The Rain" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment) debuted at No. 14.

Jackson's "Essential" compilation continues to be the U.K.'s favorite among his catalog releases, of which seven remain in the top 40. He has sold a total of two million albums and singles in Britain since his death, according to the Official Charts Company. Florence and the Machine's "Lungs" (Universal Island) was unlucky again, but underlined its staying power, with a fourth week at No. 2, while Black Eyed Peas' "The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies)" climbed 8-3, returning to its first-week peak in June. Norwegian pop stalwarts A-ha debuted at No. 5 with "Foot of the Mountain" (Universal Music), their best U.K. ranking since "Stay On These Roads" reached No. 2 in 1988. The title track single debuted on the top 75 yesterday at No. 66.

Also new in the album top 20 were the international compilation "Essential Alison Krauss" (Rounder/Universal) at No. 13, "The Best of Chicane" (Modena) at No. 14 and Reverend and the Makers' "A French Kiss in the Chaos" (Wall of Sound) at No. 19.

Jackson's "King of Pop" (Epic/Sony Music Entertainment) is in a fourth week atop Billboard's European Top 100 Albums chart, with the Pitbull track in a second week at No. 1 on Eurochart Hot 100 Singles.
