Michael Bublé's "Christmas" became his second U.K. No. 1 album as the Official Charts Company unveiled its new data on Sunday (Nov. 20). "We Found Love," by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris, started its fifth non-consecutive week atop the singles chart.
Bublé's festive set reaches the summit in its fourth chart week, with 85,000 new sales, for a running total of just under 237,000. The Canadian singer previously hit the top of the U.K. album chart with 2009's "Crazy Love," which debuted at No. 2 that October and climbed to the top on the first chart of 2010. It climbed 29-27 this week.
British pop band JLS, whose "Take A Chance On Me" single missed out on the chart peak, falling six places from last week's No. 2 debut, had another No. 2 debut, this time with their third album "Jukebox." The pill was even harder to swallow as the album finished precisely 569 units behind Bublé's total.
Snow Patrol, meanwhile, entered at No. 3 on 80,000 sales for their sixth studio set "Fallen Empires," from which the current single "This Isn't Everything You Are" debuted at No. 40. Its predecessor "Called Out in the Dark," which debuted and peaked at No. 11 in September, re-entered the top 75 at No. 61.
Coldplay's "Mylo Xyloto" moved back 6-4, and the single "Paradise" 20-13. Drake's "Take Care" debuted at a new U.K. best for the rap star of No. 5, as last week's No. 1, Susan Boyle's "Someone To Watch Over Me," fell to No. 6. Breakthrough British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran's "+" improved 10-7 as the single "Lego House" held at No. 5 and long-running previous release "The A Team" moved 28-26. Adele's "21" edged 9-8. Universal Music TV's "Pop Party 9" moved 2-1 on the compilation chart.
The Rihanna/Calvin Harris collaboration initially had three weeks atop the U.K. singles survey and has now added two more. Sales last week totalled nearly 67,000, for a seven-week total of 601,000. The Barbadian superstar's chart presence was augmented as a guest on Drake's "Take Care," a new entry at No. 12. Rihanna's "Talk That Talk" album is released in the U.K. today (21).
Rapper Flo Rida's "Good Feeling" entered at No. 2 with 61,000 sales, but British pop quartet One Direction's "Gotta Be You," the follow-up to the No. 1 single "What Makes You Beautiful," only arrived at No. 3 on 59,000 units, after topping midweek sales flashes.
There were top 20 entries for pop girl band the Saturdays' "My Heart Takes Over" at No. 15 and Lady Gaga's "Marry The Night" at No. 18.
