MGMT has put a stream of its new album "Congratulations" (Columbia) on its official Web site after the sophomore set leaked online.
The highly anticipated follow-up to 2007 debut "Oracular Spectacular" is out April 13 in the U.S. and a day earlier in the U.K.
The Brooklyn-based band actually wanted to give it away as a free download after the leak, but it seems wiser heads prevailed.
"Hey everybody, the album leaked, and we wanted you to be able to hear it from us," said a statement on their site. "We wanted to offer it as a free download but that didn't make sense to anyone but us."
See the new issue of Billboard for the MGMT interview about the band's move from leftfield dance-pop on its debut to psychedelic experimentation on "Congratulations."
