McFly, Anastacia Rule U.K. Charts Again

U.K. teen pop band McFly and U.S. siren Anastacia continue to hold sway on Britain's singles and album charts, respectively. Highest new entry honors on yesterday's (April 11) charts went to Finnish rock outfit the Rasmus on the singles list and English pop trio Atomic Kitten on the album survey, although the latter was outsold by a re-entry for erstwhile Swedish superstars ABBA.

McFly's "5 Colours in Her Hair" (Universal), which debuted at No. 1 last week, holds its place, as does Usher's "Yeah!" featuring Lil' Jon and Ludacris (Arista) at No. 2. "In the Shadows" by the Rasmus, a major hit in several European territories since last summer, opens its U.K. account at No. 3.

"Come With Me" by Special D gives English indie dance label All Around The World yet another major crossover hit at No. 6. The label's DJ Casper is still No. 5 with the former U.K. No. 1 "Cha Cha Slide," and All Around The World also topped the British chart in early February with "Take Me to the Clouds Above" by LMC Vs. U2.

Another club crossover, "I Like It" by Narcotic Thrust (Free 2 Air), opens at No. 9. The group is based around producer Stuart Crichton and DJ Andy Morris. Beyoncé debuted at No. 10 with "Naughty Girl" (Columbia), the latest single from her solo debut, "Dangerously in Love."

"The Meaning of Love" (S/BMG), the follow-up to "Pop Idol" winner Michelle's January No. 1 "All This Time," entered at No. 16. U.K. R&B collective Big Brovaz, which had four top 10 hits last year, entered at a disappointing No. 17 with "We Wanna Thank You," which the group performs in the new film "Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed."

Anastacia's self-titled Epic set holds firm at the top of the album chart, on which the top three are unchanged, with Guns N' Roses' "Greatest Hits" (Geffen/Polydor) at No. 2 and Usher's "Confessions" (Arista) at No. 3. ABBA's repromoted "Gold - Greatest Hits" (Polydor), which is 12-times platinum in the U.K. for shipments of 3.6 million copies, re-entered the chart at No. 4, with Atomic Kitten's "The Greatest Hits" (Innocent/Virgin) new at No. 5.

The latest eye-catching repackaging of a vintage pop catalog on the British chart entered at No. 11 in the form of "The Very Best of the Bay City Rollers" (Bell/Arista). The Scottish group had 10 top 10 hits in the "Rollermania" era of the 1970s but have not appeared on either the singles or album chart for 27 years.

"Anastacia" was a new entry at No. 1 on the European Top 100 Albums chart, while Usher's "Yeah" is in a third week atop the Eurochart Hot 100 Singles roundup.
