Mastodon, The Hold Steady Feel The 'Hunger Force'

The Hold Steady, Andrew W.K. and Mastodon are among the acts that have been tapped for the soundtrack to the upcoming Adult Swim film, "Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters." Slated for an April 10 release via Williams Street, the compilation will feature sound bites from the movie, plus a new version of the "Aqua Teen" theme song by its originator, Schoolly D.

Killer Mike, Unearth, Master Shake, 9lb Hammer, Early Man, Brass Castle, Insane-o-Flex and MC Chris are also included on "Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters Colon the Soundtrack." All tracks are previously unreleased material, with exception of the Hold Steady's "Girls Like Status."

The animated movie is the first film release from Adult Swim, Cartoon Network's late night programming block, and is set to premiere April 13 via First Look Pictures.

In other Mastodon news, the metal group is taking to the road for a series of small club tour dates, kicking off on March 19 at the White Rabbit in San Antonio. As previously reported, the group is also scheduled to perform at this year's South By Southwest Music Festival.

Brooklyn-based the Hold Steady will return to the United States from Europe early next month to tour through March 22.
