Oscar Nominations Announced: 'The Artist,' 'Tintin,' 'Hugo' Up For Best Score

Although the category normally sees four to five nominations, the 84th Annual Academy Awards has only two songs in the running for Best Original Song: "Real in Rio" from "Rio" and "Man or Muppet" from "The Muppets."

Blige's theme song "The Living Proof," for the film "The Help," appeared to be a frontrunner in the race, however the singer along with other speculated contenders such as Madonna and Elton John were astonishingly not nominated.

Shortly after the nominations were announced, MJB took to Twitter to express her grief over the snub. "I'm so thankful for true fans like you all. It saddens me & feels like the Academy is being mean. 2 only nominate 2 of the 5 slots is……." She continued to re-tweet reactions from her fans who shared her sadness.

"The Help" did manage to nab nominations in big name categories such as Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actress.
