"Little Kix" was produced chiefly by veteran English rock sideman Hugh Padgham, best known for his work with the Police, Sting, Genesis and Phil Collins, but whose credits also include more modern-leaning U.K. acts such as the Human League, Adam Ant, and XTC. Ann Dudley of Art of Noise arranged strings on the new release, which was recorded in southern Spain, at Olympic Studios in London, and at Pink Floyd's houseboat studio.
In the U.S., "Attack Of The Grey Lantern," released by Epic, produced the single "Wide Open Spaces," which peaked at No. 25 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart and reached No. 15 in the U.K. All 11 of Mansun's EP or single releases for Parlophone have been top-40 domestic chart entries, with three ("She Makes My Nose Bleed," "Closed For Business," and the "Legacy" EP) reaching the top-10.
The band will play various live dates around the album's release, including appearances at the V2000 festival on Aug. 19 and 20, and are also due to co-present Steve Lamacq's "Evening Session" show Aug. 2 on BBC Radio 1.
A possible U.S. release for "Little Kix" has not been finalized. "Six" was not released in the U.S.
