Madonna's "Celebration" (Warner Bros.) overtakes Muse's "The Resistance" (Helium 3/Warner Music) to debut at the top of Billboard's European Top 100 Albums survey. There's a fourth week as the European Hot 100 Singles No. 1 for "Sexy Chick" (Gum/Positiva/Virgin/EMI) by David Guetta featuring Akon.

The "Celebration" retrospective is new at No. 1 in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Ireland and Denmark, No. 2 in Spain, Portugal and Finland, No. 3 in Switzerland, No. 4 in Austria and No. 5 in Norway. The compilation's 77,000 first-week U.K. sales give Madonna her 11th No. 1 album there (including 1996's "Evita" soundtrack). That draws her level with Elvis Presley with the most U.K. chart-toppers of any solo artist, only behind the Beatles' best total for any artist of 15.
 
The Muse album falls 1-8 in Austria, 1-7 in Germany, 1-6 in Denmark, 1-3 in Italy and Ireland and 1-2 in France, Norway and the United Kingdom, where second-week sales of 53,000 take it to 201,000 units to last weekend. "The Resistance" is No. 1 for a second week in the Belgian region of Wallony and new at No. 8 in Sweden.

Pearl Jam's "Backspacer" (Monkey Wrench/Universal Island) hits the Top 100 Albums list at No. 3, after starting at No. 1 in Portugal, No. 2 in Ireland, No. 3 in Germany and Austria, No. 4 in Italy, Spain and Norway, No. 5 in Denmark and Switzerland and No. 9 in the United Kingdom, where it opens with 25,000 sales.

The big climber into the Europe-wide top ten is Mika's sophomore album "The Boy Who Knew Too Much" (Casablanca/Universal Island), which climbs 21-4 after a 2-1 rise in France and debuts at No. 2 in Switzerland, No. 4 in the United Kingdom, No. 5 in Holland, No. 6 in Germany, No. 7 in Spain and No. 9 in Switzerland. Its U.K. debut, on sales of 40,000, compares to an opening 100,000 units there when his debut "Life In Carton Motion" opened at No. 1 in February 2007. "Knew Too Much" is also new at No. 2 in Switzerland and No. 9 in Austria.

Mark Knopfler's "Get Lucky" (Mercury/Universal) is down to No. 5 from last week's No. 2 debut on Top 100 Albums, despite climbing 2-1 in Norway and debuting at No. 6 in Sweden. The album is down 2-3 in Denmark, 2-5 in Italy, 5-10 in Switzerland and 9-24 in the United Kingdom.

Guetta's "One Love" album drops 4-6 on the composite chart, but "Sexy Chick" extends its European Hot 100 reign with the help of a 2-1 climb in Austria, also improving 5-2 in Switzerland, 3-2 in Denmark, 5-4 in Sweden and Norway.

Whitney Houston's "I Look To You" (Arista/RCA/Sony Music Entertainment) is down 3-7 overall, while Black Eyed Peas' "The E.N.D. (The Energy Never Dies)" (Interscope/Universal) dips 7-8. The group's "I Gotta Feeling" single is back up 3-2 in its 13th week on the European Hot 100.

The pan-European album top ten is completed by two new entries. Long-running German rock band Element Of Crime's "Immer Da Wo Du Bist Bin Ich Nie" (Vertigo Berlin/Universal) comes in at No. 9 after starting at No. 2 in Germany and No. 6 in Austria; U.K. rap figurehead Dizzee Rascal gets a No. 10 debut with "Tongue N' Cheek" (Dirtee Stank). Initial sales of 53,000 in his home market make for a No. 3 arrival there.
