Lyfe Jennings Makes 'Change' On New Album

Lyfe Jennings is "still dealing with deep subjects" on new album "Lyfe Change," but the R&B singer/songwriter/producer also tells Billboard.com the album has more "happy moments" than previous efforts.

Due April 29 via Columbia, Jennings says "Lyfe Change" -- his third release -- is "the greatest album of my career. I'm still dealing with deep subjects, so it?s classic Lyfe material, but there are also some happy moments and more up-tempos than previously. There are also lots of features. This album is very versatile."

Standout tracks on the set include the yearning "In Love," "Keep On Dreaming" -- Lyfe's self-proclaimed favorite song on the set -- and "Midnight Train," which is the first single in Japan.

The album's first official single, "Never, Never Land," is currently at no. 25 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts.

Jennings is presently on a radio tour through the end of the month and will embark on a 40-city trek starting June 3. An international tour will follow along with some overseas festivals.

In addition, Jennings tells Billboard.com he is working on a four-edition children's book series titled "Adventures of Lyfe," to be released by the end of the year, and a furniture line that?s set to launch next year. His Jesus Swings imprint, recently picked up by Universal, will debut its first artist, R&B/Soul singer Gritz, at the top of next year. Jennings also recently finished acting classes and is considering some movie roles.

Lyfe's debut album, "Lyfe 268-192," reached No. 7 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and has sold 1.1 million copies in the United States to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. His sophomore effort, "The Phoenix," peaked at No. 1 on the same chart and has moved 483,000 copies.
