Lineup Set For First Green Apple Festival

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Dresden Dolls, Ghostface Killah, Slick Rick, Umphrey's McGee, Toots & the Maytals, Mike Doughty, Guster and Soulive are among the artists confirmed to perform at the first Green Apple Music & Arts Festival, which will be held April 20-23 at more than 30 New York venues. The event will launch on April 20 with the sixth Jammy Awards at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.

Other artists set to appear include Blues Traveler, Kaki King, Bill Frisell, Baaba Maal, Antibalas, Martin Sexton, the Fab Faux, Richie Havens, Avail, Bjorkestra, the Slip, Ben Taylor and Mad Professor.

Ghostface and Slick Rick will team up for a hip-hop bill at the Nokia Theatre, while Havens will return to West Village venue the Bitter End for the first time in years. Blues Traveler will visit the tiny Lower East Side club Rothko, while Umphrey's McGree will perform at CBGB.

The festival, which aims to raise awareness of Earth Day, is also hosting an April 23 film festival at the American Museum of Natural History. A children's event series is also in the works.
