McCartney died April 17, 1998, of breast cancer. A musician, photographer, author, businesswoman, and animal-rights activist, she recorded seven No. 1 hits with her husband, Paul McCartney, and Wings, including "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" and "Band On The Run." Her solo album, "Wide Prairie," was released posthumously in 1998. The first anniversary of her death was marked April 10 by an all-star tribute concert at London's Royal Albert Hall that featured George Michael, the Pretenders, Elvis Costello, and Tom Jones, among others.
