The 25-city tour was supposed to begin Sept. 7 in Albany, N.Y. "ELO wanted to put on the grand spectacle with a massive stage and light show that the group is known for," the group's management said. "And that's just not logistically or economically possible in this marketplace at this time."
The group was touring behind the Epic album "Zoom," its first under the ELO name since 1986's "Balance of Power." The new set debuted at No. 94 on The Billboard 200 in late June.
The tour would have marked ELO's first concerts since 1986 and the group's first shows in America since 1981. Ticket holders can obtain refunds at the point of purchase.
