Rich Cronin, a singer and songwriter for the late '90s pop trio LFO (Lyte Funky Ones), died Wednesday (Sept. 8) after a long battle with cancer. He was 35.
Cronin, who was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia in 2005, suffered a stroke and died in a hospital, his brother told TMZ.
LFO is best-known for its 1999 hit single "Summer Girls," which was written by Cronin and spent four weeks at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 that year. A second single, "Girl on TV," reached No. 10 on the chart in 2000.
Fellow pop singer and 'NSYNC member Lance Bass reacted to Cronin's passing on Twitter, writing, "Sad sad day that Rich Cronin died - was a amazing guy." Bass' former bandmate Chris Kirkpatrick posted on his Facebook page, "RIP to a great friend Rich C."
