Leona Lewis will officially release "Collide," the first single from her forthcoming third album, as a collaborative effort with Swedish DJ/producer Avicii after a reported dispute involving a sample used in the song.
According to BBC Radio 1, Avicii (real name: Tim Bergling) claimed that Lewis and her label, Syco Music, used a piano loop from his track "Penguin" without his permission. "Penguin" contains an instrumental originally conceived by Penguin Cafe Orchestra, and while Avicii's management alleged that Lewis copied Avicii's version instead of sampling the original, Syco denied using the unapproved sample.
Now that the two sides have seemingly settled the dispute, "Collide's" artist credit will be Leona Lewis/Avicii, and the song will hit digital retailers on Sept. 6. "Glad to FINALLY have resolved situation with Leona. Music is the answer!" Avicii wrote on Twitter earlier today (Aug. 16).

"Collide," which debuted at No. 32 on the Dance Club Songs chart last week, will also be remixed by Afrojack, Alex Guadino & Jason Rooney, Cahill, and Nay Ray, all of which will also be released on Sept. 6. According to a release, Lewis is "currently hard at work… in the studio" finishing the follow-up to 2009's "Echo."
