Who's that guy in that video? If you're a regular watcher of pop music videos of late there's a chance you've asked that a few times, whether while oggling Rihanna's "We Found Love" (Dudley O'Shaughnessy) or Lady Gaga's "Judas" (Norman Reedus). The newest obscure boy toy belongs to Lana Del Rey and her slickly produced video for "Born to Die." His name: Bradley Soileau, a 25-year-old New-York-based model with a tattoo across his brow reading "War Inside my Head." In the video, a mostly shirtless Soileau clutches and makes out with Del Rey among oppulent scenery. We caught up with the model, recently in Milan for fashion week, to chat up music, being a music video "ho" and the real Lana.
Lana Del Rey's just-released "Born To Die" album is on track to debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart next week. The set will perhaps sell between 60,000 to 70,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Feb. 5 -- so say industry prognosticators.
That could mark the highest entry for a female artist's full-length major label debut since Jackie Evancho's "Dream With Me" bowed at No. 2 on July 2, 2011.
Lana Del Rey's 'Born To Die': Track-By-Track Review
"Born to Die" will be Del Rey's second visit to the Billboard 200 in less than a month. Her self-titled four-song digital EP bowed at No. 20 three weeks ago, selling 14,000 according to Nielsen SoundScan. This week, it moves 51-162 with 3,000 (down 56%). It has shifted 24,000 to date.
Adele's "21" will likely block Del Rey from the top slot on the Billboard 200, as the former is looking to hold at No. 1 for a 19th nonconsecutive week. This past week, "21" reigned with another 116,000 sold (up 22%).
Other albums heading for big debuts next week include Leonard Cohen's "Old Ideas," which could sell upwards of 40,000 copies. It should bring the veteran act his first top 10 album and highest-charting set ever. Also doing well is the Nick Jr. "Fresh Beat Band" TV soundtrack, as it's eyeballing a start of around 20,000 to 25,000.
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 8.
