Interactive website Moshi Monsters lets players adopt and care for baby-aged parodies of popular music acts. Lady Goo Goo, who is modeled after Gaga and sings a song called "Peppy-razzi," is one of the site's most popular characters after making her debut this past summer.
The injunction limits Lady Goo Goo from performing "Peppy-razzi." Luckily for the character's young fans, she can still appear in the Moshi Monsters world, under the stipulation that she doesn't perform the song.
The decision is an important step in the process of developing trademark laws, particularly those regarding tribute and parody bands, which have been around for decades.
According to the Guardian, Moshi Monsters had planned to release "Peppy-razzi" on iTunes, via a new division -- Moshi Music -- designed to promote its animated characters. They are anticipating an album of Moshi music later this year.
