Kylie Minogue was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame at the 25th annual Australian awards ceremony on Sunday night.

The pop star, who has earned 16 ARIA awards over her lengthy career, told the audience she was "a very proud Australian."

"I'm always bragging about our country wherever I am in the world and tonight's award means so much to me," she said.

The singer's award was presented by Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, who dubbed Minogue "so famous, we only need to say her first name."

Children's group the Wiggles joined Minogue in the Hall of Fame. Other honorees included Boy & Bear, who won five awards including Album of the Year and Breakthrough Artist Album; and Gotye, who took home three awards, including Best Male Artist and Single of the Year for the track "Somebody That I Used to Know."
