"American Idol" winner Kris Allen will release his debut album on Nov. 17, the singer announced Thursday night (Aug. 27). A rep for 19 Entertainment has also confirmed the news in a statement to Billboard.com: "It is a confirmed release date."

Allen broke the news himself with a straightforward post on his official Twitter page: "Hey guys! The album is set to release Nov. 17." The announcement comes after Amazon.com made Allen's "New Release 2009" available for pre-order last week and listed the same release date, setting off speculation among "Idol" fans.

As previously reported, Allen has been recording his debut album with The Fray's Joe King, songwriter Claude Kelly (Akon, Leona Lewis), Salaam Remi (Nas, Amy Winehouse) and David Hodges (Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry). Allen also hit the studio in Nashville with singer/songwriter Matt Kearney, and last week he told EW.com of writing sessions with Toby Gad (Beyoncé, Fergie) and Lindy Robbins (Backstreet Boys, Jordin Sparks).

The release date for runner-up Adam Lambert's album on 19/RCA is still unknown, but first- and second-place Idols typically release their post-show debuts within weeks of each other. Season 7 winner David Cook released his self-titled debut on Nov. 18 last year, and runner-up David Archuleta's arrived one week earlier on Nov. 11. Lambert's project is also available for pre-order on Amazon but has no date listed.

Since "Idol," both Allen and Lambert have been recording their albums while performing on the American Idols Live tour, which wraps up Sept. 15 in Manchester, N.H.
