Korn, Disturbed Proclaim 'Pop Sux!'

Hard rock act Korn will follow its current European tour with a U.S. jaunt set to kick off Oct. 8 in Manchester, N.H. Although only 17 dates lasting through Nov. 2 in San Antonio, Texas, are as yet confirmed, the Pop Sux! tour is slated to last seven weeks and visit 35 cities with Disturbed and Trust Company in tow.

This time around, fans will see the band in a somewhat stripped down setting, as opposed to the ornate in-the-round style stage employed during Korn's summer U.S. tour. Even so, the staging will incorporate video screens with images supplied by collaborator Nathan "Karma" Cox, a longtime friend of the band.

"It's not as elaborate as the other one," lead singer Jonathan Davis said in a statement. "We're making it more about the band than the huge light shows and all that other stuff. Overall, we like it a lot better."

Presented by MTV and Playstation2 and sponsored by Pony, Pop Sux! will boast a limited number of tickets at each venue discounted by $10 for fans under 20 years of age. "We just think that right now, because the economy is so screwed, kids are getting it the worst," Davis said. "And we know that there aren't that many parents buying Korn tickets for kids right now, so we wanted to do something for our younger fans."

Korn is touring in support of its latest Immortal/Epic album, "Untouchables." The set debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 938,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. Disturbed will be out behind "Believe," due Sept. 17 via Warner Bros., while Trust Company is supporting its Geffen debut, "The Lonely Position of Neutral," which was released earlier this month.

In other news, Chrome Dreams will release "Kornography: The Unauthorized Biography of Korn," Oct. 15 in the U.S. through Music Video Distributors. Retailing for $19.95, the VHS/DVD title boasts interviews with former band members, journalists, and friends and relatives of band members. Described as "part-expose, part-biography," the 70-minute release also features interviews with group members and previously unseen footage of the band. The DVD version adds a bonus photo gallery, discography, film outtakes, and screen savers.
