Knoc-turn'al Sees The Light With Mini-Album

West Coast rapper and Dr. Dre protege Knoc-turn'al has set a July 30 release date for his Elektra debut, the mini-album "L.A. Confidential Presents Knoc-turn'al." The six-track disc is planned as an appetizer for his full-length debut, "Knoc's Landing," which was pushed back indefinitely from its initially proposed April release.

The first single from the set is "The Knoc" featuring Missy Elliott and Dr. Dre, which debuted at No. 13 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart in March and is expected to also appear on "Knoc's Landing." The mini-album's other featured track is "Muzik," which includes a sample of Paul McCartney & Wings' little-known 1979 rocker "Old Siam, Sir." The cut hit No. 10 last month on Billboard's Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart.

Knoc-turn'al debuted on Dr. Dre's 1999 Aftermath/Interscope set "2001" and continued the pair's collaborative relationship last year on the soundtrack to "The Wash," which also starred Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. The Aftermath/Doggystyle/Interscope set's first single, "Bad Intentions," featured Knoc-turn'al.

The rapper plans to continue his soundtrack work this year, with "Muzik" set to make an appearance on the album accompanying the upcoming Luc Besson film "The Transporter." The film and soundtrack are due in the fall.
