Kenny G Single To Aid Sept. 11 Funds

Kenny G, Arista Records, and producer Walter Afanasieff have announced that they will donate royalties and net proceeds from the saxophonist's next single to two funds aiding firefighters and police who served in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Billboard Bulletin reports. The single, "Auld Lang Syne (Freedom Mix)," hits stores Nov. 5; it can be heard now as a stream on AOL Music's "First Listen" program.

Funds from the sale of the single will benefit the New York State Fraternal Order of Police Foundation and the New York Sept. 11 Firefighters Counseling Support Foundation.

"Auld Lang Syne (Freedom Mix)" is an audio collage, the original version of which was included on the artist's 1999 holiday album "Faith." As previously reported, the new mix will be included on Kenny G's third holiday album, "Wishes," which Arista will release on Tuesday (Oct. 22).

The artist's latest album, "Paradise," recently debuted at No. 2 on the Top Contemporary Jazz albums chart and No. 9 on The Billboard 200.
