After unveiling her new single, "Part Of Me," during her performance at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (Feb. 12), Katy Perry has released the studio version of the song to iTunes and radio on Monday morning. "Part Of Me" serves as the first of three new songs off Perry's "Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection" album.
The uptempo pop track finds Perry -- who finalized her divorce with Russell Brand last week -- overcoming a personal crisis to "find out who is really there for me" and become a stronger person. "You can keep the diamond ring/It don't mean nothing anyway," Perry sneers over a propulsive beat and a bouncing guitar line.
Katy Perry to Release 'Teenage Dream' Special Edition in March
At the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, Perry's performance with a quick take on her "Teenage Dream" hit "E.T.," before the performer was revealed to be a doppelganger for the pop star. The real singer strode onstage, reborn with aqua blue hair, and delivered her new breakup anthem.
"Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection," due out March 27, will include the entirety of Perry's sophomore album as well as three new tracks and four reworkings of her past hits. Although "Teenage Dream" tied Michael Jackson's record for the most Hot 100 chart-toppers from a single album with five No. 1s, neither "Part Of Me" nor any other single from "Complete Confection" would give Perry the record, as previously noted.
