Kat DeLuna Splits With Epic

Pop singer Kat DeLuna, best known for her 2007 hit single "Whine Up" featuring Elephant Man, has split with Epic Records, according to reps for the artist.

The 20-year-old artist's debut album, "9 Lives," sold just 63,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen Soundscan, but tracks from the set have sold more than 866,000 digital copies.

DeLuna, who won Latin Dance Club Play track of the year at this year's Billboard Latin Music Awards for "Whine Up," is working on her sophomore album with sought-after producers like Akon, Jim Jonsin, Red One and J. Bynum, among others.

"I am excited to step into a new phase of my career," DeLuna says in a statement. "As a young artist, I am always looking for innovative ways to expand my opportunities, from recording to performing, and I felt this was the right time to make a change. I truly do appreciate everyone at Epic Records' support of my career and wish them all the best."
