Adele and Bruno Mars are both rolling in major Grammy nominations, with each lined up to compete for album, record and song of the year at the Feb. 12 bash. Both crooners earned six nominations, which were announced Wednesday (Nov. 30) during a primetime concert special featuring a pair of performances by Lady Gaga. Kanye West actually leads the pack with seven total nominations, namely for the song "All of the Lights," but his album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" was omitted from best album contention and "Lights" was left off the coveted Record of the Year list.
Although Kanye West led all Grammy nominees with seven nods this year, the rapper addressed the AOTY snub during a Watch The Throne concert at Chicago's United Center on Thursday night.
Rihanna registers a sixth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "We Found Love," featuring Calvin Harris, while Jay-Z and Kanye West say "bonjour" to the top 10 with a 15-8 surge for "Ni**as in Paris."
Kanye West, in a partnership with VOYR, grants a even deeper look of what the Watch The Throne star is really like.
The Christmas crooner collab'ed with "SNL" cast members' Gaga, Kanye and more on Dec. 17's episode, in addition to performing holiday standards.
Big Sean had some headline-making news for MTV a little while ago, letting the network know that he and his label mates at Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music are close to finishing their collaborative album.
"We're gonna do the G.O.O.D. Music album first; we been working on that," the rapper said to MTV News while working on Wale's "Slight Work" video in California. "So, me, Kanye, Cudi, CyHi, John Legend, Common, Pusha T, everybody on G.O.O.D., Mr. Hudson: We're all working on a new project; it's almost done."
With Kanye at the helm and so much talent already on board, the record figures to be one of the biggest hip-hop releases on the radar for 2012, especially if it comes anywhere near the quality of West's G.O.O.D. Friday mixes he unleashed via his web site last year. But that won't be the end of the label's efforts, either; Big Sean also added that, after the G.O.O.D. Music collaboration drops some time in the Spring, his own album will be coming out during the summer, with a mixtape dropping in between.
All this comes on the heels of Jay-Z's quotes to MTV News a few weeks prior, when he hinted that he and 'Ye might release a second installment of "Watch The Throne" and each put out a solo album in the next year, saying "we're just really in a great place creatively. We really found our zone."
Either way, it figures to be a busy year for West and his cohorts. Aside from working on various albums, simultaneously, Kanye is also taking on a new gig as a DJ, atleast for New Years Eve.
Clearly inspired by Ron Artest's name change to "Metta World Peace," 'Ye took on a similar name, "Yeezy World Peace." "I kinda wanna DJ somewhere this New Years," Mr. West (@kanyewest) tweeted. "My New Years DJ name is gone be YEEZY WORLD PEACE! If you book me you have to put YEEZY WORLD PEACE on the E-vite. Or I ain't spinning."
Ye' continued to reveal what he requires in order to spin. His rider consists of "a stealth bomber and 2 bottled waters."
