Country music veteran K.T. Oslin says that "Live Close By, Visit Often" (BNA Entertainment), her first album in five years, may be the final recording of her career. "I probably won't do another album," the 59-year-old singer-songwriter says of the set, released today (June 19). "Because I'm old and I have to deal with the fact that this business is youth-oriented. The older I get, I'm not going to be writing teenybopper songs. And I'm sure not going to be singing them."

Oslin's career-making hit "80's Ladies," hit No. 7 on Billboard's Top Country Singles & Tracks chart in July 1987. The album of the same name reached No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart in February 1988, and has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for U.S. shipments of 1 million copies.

When the hits stopped coming in the mid-1990s, she pulled back from touring. In 1995, she had quadruple bypass heart surgery.

Although Oslin senses that her music is too mature for the marketplace, she's not worried about how well the album will sell. "If this album were a big success then I would do an album of standards," she said. "If not, I have a number of hobbies that I really enjoy, and they occupy a great deal of my concentration and creativeness."

The new 12-track album was co-produced by the artist with the Mavericks' Raul Malo, and features one standard, a cover of Rosemary Clooney's "Come on-a My House," which closes the album. The title track is at No. 53 in its fourth week on the Top Country Singles & Tracks chart.
