K-Ci Pleads No Contest To Exposure Charges

K-Ci (real name: Cedric Hailey), one-half of the R&B duo K-Ci & Jo-Jo, pleaded no contest to four charges of lewd conduct last week in a Los Angeles court. Hailey's attorney Kenneth Markman entered the pleas to the misdemeanor charges on behalf of his client, who was on tour and didn't appear in court.

"It was in his best interest to put this matter behind him. He's regretful of what happened. He just got caught up in the moment," Markman said.

Hailey exposed himself twice during a radio station-sponsored Jingle Ball concert Dec. 16 at L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium, said prosecutors who originally charged him with 24 counts of lewd conduct and indecent exposure. About 4,000 people attended the Christmas show, which also featured Christina Aguilera, 98 Degrees, and Third Eye Blind.

Hailey was performing when he allegedly pulled down his trousers and underwear and exposed himself to the audience, which included hundreds of children as young as 5 years old, prosecutors said. His brother, Joel "Jo-Jo" Hailey, was not accused of any wrongdoing.

Cedric Hailey will be sentenced June 5 and is expected to be fined and ordered to perform community service. "There's not going to be any jail time," Markman said.
