Junkie XL Links With Xbox, Brings Elvis Stateside

Dutch dance/electronic act Junkie XL, who recently scored a No. 1 hit in the U.K. with its remix of Elvis Presley's "A Little Less Conversation," has signed a pact with video-game manufacturer Xbox to produce a soundtrack to the forthcoming racing game "Quantum Redshift." Junkie XL (led by Tom Holkenberg) will create 16 new, exclusive tracks that will be woven into the game, which is due for a fall release.

The Presley track -- which also grew out of an endorsement deal with Nike's FIFA World Cup ad campaign -- has made history for the late rock pioneer, giving Presley 18 career No. 1 hits in the U.K. and thus breaking a long-standing tie with the Beatles for most U.K. chart-toppers. It's the first remix of a Presley track to receive authorization from the late artist's estate.

"A Little Less Conversation" is due for U.S. release June 25 as a commercial single on RCA/BMG. The track is credited to Elvis Vs. JXL, due to concerns about associating a Presley release with Junkie XL's full, drug-referencing moniker. The single's U.S. release will be the beginning of a year-long campaign celebrating Presley, culminating in the release of "ELV1S 30 #1 Hits," which will collect 30 of his chart-topping singles on a single CD.
