Just weeks after Joaquin Phoenix  announced the release date for "I'm Still Here" --  the controversial documentary chronicling his reinvention as a hip-hop musician -- a teaser trailer for the film has finally hit the net.

The one-minute "I'm Still Here" trailer consists of briskly edited scenes from the movie, including Phoenix performing onstage, getting into fights, and hugging Diddy in a recording studio. (In May, Diddy told MTV that he recorded a track with Phoenix and that the actor was "for real...if he's not for real, he tricked me. We went in to the studio, did a record, mixed a record and everything.")

Meanwhile, a shadowy voice-over says mysteriously, "One day it gets hot and you slowly evaporate into air, way up, higher than any mountaintop, all the way to the heavens.

"Then you understand that it was at your lowest that you were closest to God," the voice continues. "Life's a journey that goes round and round and the end is closest to the beginning. So it's change you need. Relish the journey." Phoenix stares into thin air before going onstage to fans yelling his name in anticipation.

The Oscar-winning Phoenix announced his retirement from acting back in 2008. "I'm Still Here" will be released Sept. 10 by Magnolia Pictures.
