Four weeks later, Jill Scott says she's still overwhelmed by the No. 1 Billboard 200 debut of her latest album, "The Light of the Sun."

"Wow, I haven't even been able to wrap my mind around it yet," Scott tells Billboard.com. "I'm blown away. I really am. To work on something for a year and half and put so much time and energy into it and enjoy doing it so much,  and then for the audience response to be, 'We miss you. Glad you're back,' it just feels wonderful. It feels really good to still be relevant 11 years after my first record came out."

With the album's momentum still strong -- it currently sits at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 -- Scott is prepping for the start of her Jill Scott's Summer Block Party tour, an 18-date package that kicks off July 26 in Boston and features Anthony Hamilton, Mint Condition, DJ Jazzy Jeff and host Doug E. Fresh on the bill. Hamilton and Fresh guest on "The Light of the Sun": Hamilton on the first single "So In Love," and Fresh on "All Cried Out Redux," an update of the 1986 Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam single.

"I'm a big fan of block parties, and I'm a big fan of [the other acts on the tour]," Scott says. "I just wanted a show filled with live musicians and live vocalists that have stood the test of time. And, you know, I have a lot of estrogen so I wanted to balance all that out with some guys." Scott adds that, like a good block party, the concerts will be interactive and flowing rather than one act after another.

"We just want it to be fluid and smooth in transition," she explains. "That's the reason why DJ Jazzy Jeff is there, one of the greatest DJs of all time. I've been going to his parties since I was a teenager. And then Doug E. Fresh, nobody starts a party off better than him. He has this amazing energy. We're definitely going to have a good time."

Jill Scott Sets 'Summer Block Party' Tour Dates

Scott is currently working the album's second single, "Shame," and she says she and her camp "have been thinking about" a third release from "The Light of the Sun." "I have two or three in mind," she says, "and I"m not confirming anything yet. I'm not sure what it'll be. I just want to shoot a video that will be interesting and fun."

And while music is keeping her busy at the moment, Scott is anxious to add to her acting resume as well, which between albums included appearances in "Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?" and its sequel, "The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency" and "Hounddog," and in the TV programs "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Botswana," the animated "Black Panther" and the Lifetime channel movie "Sins of the Mother," for which she won an NAACP Image Award.

"I'm looking for something great," Scott says. "I need something meaty, you know? I really want to stretch, but I haven't found anything yet. It's been a good run as an actor, but there's more to be done. There's more to give, and definitely more to learn. I really love this craft. I really respect it, and I'm just waiting for more good work."
