Jewel's Autobiography Heads For Bookstores

Once again, Jewel is baring her soul -- this time in print. The singer has written an autobiography called ''Chasing Down The Dawn: Life Stories'' using her full name, Jewel Kilcher. She describes how she grew up poor in Alaska and struggled to make ends meet before making it big as a performer. She also details her adventures on the road.

''It's a little bit hard in the press for people to get a real feel for you,'' she said. ''They get ideas of you but not a real feel for you. So when a fan reads a book like this they can understand how my mind works.''

Jewel said she's especially proud of photography she did that appears in the book. ''The middle section is my photography,'' she said. ''My friend I was working with that helped me design the book really liked it and thought we should put it in.''

This is Jewel's second book, following 1998's ''A Night Without Armor: Poems." The artist is in the "planning stages" for her next studio album, according to her official Web site.
