Former "American Idol" finalist Jennifer Hudson is coming home to television for the holidays with a primetime music special slated to air on ABC.

"Jennifer Hudson: I'll Be Home for Christmas" will air in December and feature the singer-actress reliving her childhood holidays with musical performances filmed in locations specific to her youth: the Oscar winner's church, music academy and other Chicago locations.

"I can't wait to hear her take on Christmas classics as we discover what she loves about her hometown of Chicago," said Vicki Dummer, senior vp alternative series, specials and late-night at ABC Entertainment Group.

The special will be produced by Tall Pony Prods., with Tony Eaton serving as exec producer and David Mallet on board as director.
