President Obama's 2008 campaign earned plenty of help from the music world -- and now it appears he's asking for its aid again as he gears up for this year's re-election campaign.

A list of potential celebrity endorsers given to campaign donors leaked to Nashville newspaper the Tennessean last week. Among the 194 names: will.i.am and Black Eyed Peas bandmate Fergie, Arcade Fire, India.Arie, Sara Bareilles, Jay-Z, Counting Crows, Josh Groban, Alicia Keys, Jamie Foxx, John Legend, Adam Levine, Ricky Martin and Chris Cornell, as well as Hollywood and political heavyweights ranging from George Clooney to Emanuel Rahm.

Several artists listed have distanced themselves from the campaign, with Lady Antebellum's publicist telling Entertainment Weekly, "The members of Lady Antebellum did not submit their name for inclusion on the surrogate list for Obama's campaign… The band has never commented on their political affiliations nor do they plan to in the future." The Band Perry also announced that they hadn't made an endorsement.

"This was a wish list of people and groups who may be asked to participate in a campaign event," campaign spokesperson Addie Whisenant told the Tennessean. "Not everyone on this list has been contact or agreed to help the campaign."

However, several artists have, with Al Green and India.Arie set to perform on Thursday at a fundraiser at the Apollo Theater in New York City.

In the 2008 campaign, stars including John Legend and Common joined will.i.am in a viral music video, "Yes We Can," based on an Obama speech. It now stands at 23 million views.
