As originally reported on Billboard, Jay-Z is expected to announce today (August 24) that he will give a benefit concert at New York's Madison Square Garden on September 11th, the same day his eleventh studio album, "The Blueprint 3," hits stores.

Jay-Z's first two singles from "Blueprint 3" -- "D.O.A." and "Run This Town" -- peaked at No. 24 and No. 3 respectively on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Two new tracks from the album, "Off That," featuring Drake and produced by Timbaland, and "Reminder," also produced by Timbaland, leaked online Sunday (Aug. 23).

According to the New York Times, the concert will raise money for the New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund, a charity created to support the families of police officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty.

Jay-Z's last New York-area performance was a last-minute headlining slot the All Points West festival on July 31, when he stepped into replace the Beastie Boys, who had to cancel due to rapper Adam Yauch's cancer diagnosis.

The concert will be broadcast by Billboard collaborators, Fuse. Ticket information will be announced shortly.
