Rapper Jay-Z will make his U.S. multi-day festival debut at the 2009 All Points West Music & Arts Festival, to be held July 31-Aug. 2 at Liberty State Park in New Jersey, just across the Hudson River from lower Manhattan.

All Points West organizers have tapped Jay-Z to replace previous opening night headliner the Beastie Boys, whose member Adam "MCA" Yauch was recently diagnosed with cancer and will undergo surgery. The band was also forced to cancel other summer tour dates and delayed the release of its forthcoming album, "Hot Sauce Committee Part 1."

In light of the Beastie Boys' cancellation, All Points West organizers are offering refunds at point of purchase for July 31 single-day tickets only, according to a news release.

Meanwhile, the upcoming All Points West festival will mark Jay-Z's first multi-day music festival performance in the United States. In 2008, the rapper was a headliner at the Live Nation-produced Pemberton Festival in Pemberton, British Columbia. Other large-scale festival appearances last year included the U.K.'s Glastonbury, Denmark's Roskilde Festival, Norway's Hove Festival and London's O2 Wireless Festival.

Other artists confirmed for the second annual All Points West are Coldplay, Tool, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vampire Weekend, My Bloody Valentine, Gogol Bordello, Echo & The Bunnymen, MGMT, MSTRKRFT, the Black Keys, Fleet Foxes, Neko Case, the Ting Tings, the National, Silversun Pickups and Arctic Monkeys, among others.

Goldenvoice and Liberty Event are producing All Points West in association with New York's Highline Ballroom.
