Tied at five nominations, Jay-Z and Maxwell head the list of music nominees for the 41st annual NAACP Image Awards. The nominations were announced today during a press conference at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Jay-Z and Maxwell's five nods include outstanding male artist and outstanding album. Also vying in the outstanding album category is Alicia Keys, who garnered a total of three nominations. Other multiple nominees include Mary J. Blige (also up for outstanding album), Rihanna and Whitney Houston with two each. This year's outstanding new artist slate features Jeremih, Keri Hilson, K'Jon, Kristinia DeBarge and Melanie Fiona.

The NAACP Image Awards encompass nominations in 53 categories, including recording, television, motion picture and literature. The final selections are voted on by NAACP members, with winners announced during the ceremony's live telecast Friday, Feb. 26 (8 p.m.-10 p.m. ET/PT tape delayed) on Fox.
