Derulo says the odds of his first single, "Whatcha Say," hitting No. 1 were "like being hit by lightning seven times."

Jason Derulo has canceled a UK tour planned for February and March after injuring his neck during rehearsals in Miami this week. The "In My Head" singer was trying an acrobatic move when he "landed directly on his head," suffering an acute fracture to his vertebrae, according to a statement from his label.

Derulo posted a photo of himself in the hospital late Wednesday, showing him in a neck brace and laying down. "I fractured my neck doing tumbling & acrobatics 4 tour! Always tryin 2 push boundaries 4 YOU! Like my new chain? ;)" he wrote his fans.

The accident occurred Tuesday and he was rushed to the hospital where doctors said he could have been paralyzed, a rep said. He has since left the hospital but will have to wear a neck brace for the next few months.

The UK leg of his Future History World Tour was set to begin in Glasgow, Scotland on Feb. 23 and wrap up in Newcastle on March 3.

"To all my fans who planned to come to the 'Future History World' tour, the pain of letting you down cuts me way deeper than this injury I've sustained," he said in a statement, via BBC News. "My fans mean everything to me, so I'm praying for a speedy recovery in order to perform for you in the near future."

Derulo topped the Hot 100 in 2009 with "Whatcha Say." The Miami songwriter/performer has gone on to score two further top 10s on the Hot 100 and released his sophomore album, "Future History," in September. Hear him talk about the success of "Whatcha Say":
