Jamelia Writing New CD, Dabbling In Modeling, Acting

British pop star Jamelia is pursuing a busy schedule of branding activities and acting roles as she readies the next phase of her career.

The artist, who is currently without a record deal after separating in April with her label home of 10 years, EMI, will endorse the "Model.Me" designer hair-care range with "supermodels" Erin O'Connor and Helena Christensen, through a joint-venture with U.K.-based salon chain Toni&Guy.

The product will be available from Sept. 5 nationwide at Britain's Boots chemists and Tony&Guy franchise. "Jamelia has never been busier since her record deal ended with EMI earlier this year," Jamelia's manager Jonathan Shalit tells Billboard.com.

The singer is also making a foray into acting, having been offered major guest starring roles in two West End shows and a BBC sitcom, Shalit says, without identifying the productions.

The artist is also apparently sowing the seeds for a future on the big screen, and has just completed a two-week acting course at the Birmingham school of acting. "It would be great cracking Hollywood, but I wouldn't say I was that confident as an actress just yet," she tells Billboard.com.

EMI will showcase the artist's recording career with a singles compilation "Superstar -- The Hits," due for release Sept. 24 through Parlophone. Separately, the artist is cutting a new album, which she intends to complete by the end of the year.

A four-time winner at the MOBO Awards, Jamelia will co-host this year's gala on Sept. 19 at London's O2 Arena with Jamaican rapper Shaggy. This time, she is in the running for the best U.K. female trophy.
