Jackson, Sting, Newman Join Songwriters Hall

Michael Jackson, Sting, Randy Newman, Ashford & Simpson, and Barry Manilow are the newest members of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. They will be honored June 13 at the Hall's annual induction dinner at the Sheraton New York Hotel. Additional honorees will be announced at a later date.

"The Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards & Dinner is so important because it's a time when some of the premier songwriters in the world come together to honor their own," Songwriters Hall of Fame chairman Hal David said in a statement. "That kind of camaraderie creates a very special night and we're looking forward to another great event this year."

Last year's inductees included Eric Clapton, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, songwriter Diane Warren, and composer Paul Williams. Gloria Estefan and her producer-husband, Emilio, received a lifetime achievement award. Dave Matthews, matchbox twenty frontman Rob Thomas, Elvis Costello, and Marc Anthony were among the artists who performed at the ceremony.
