The first fruit of Alan Jackson's collaboration with Alison Krauss, "Like Red on a Rose," has already found success on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, where it is No. 23 in its fourth week. Now, the album of the same name has been confirmed for a Sept. 26 release via Arista.

The project got off the ground after Jackson and Krauss discussed recording a bluegrass album backstage last November at a Grand Ole Opry show at New York's Carnegie Hall. Krauss took the helm as the producer for the album, which eventually morphed into a more country-leaning effort.

It's Jackson's first country release since 2004's "What I Do." A gospel album, "Precious Memories," was released last year. The single was written by Robert Lee and Melanie Castleman, who have previously penned selections for both Jackson and Krauss.

Of Krauss' impact on the recording process, Jackson says, "I think more than the songs, it was probably the approach of her production and the instruments she used, and how she used them, to see how they all worked with my voice."

Jackson has sporadic touring planned for the next few months, beginning Aug. 18 in Gilford, N.H., and running through Dec. 2 in Tampa, Fla.
