The biggest-selling various artists compilation series in history will bow its latest installment March 19, as the 20-track "NOW That's What I Call Music! 9" (UTV Records, a division of UME) hits stores with recent hits from Jennifer Lopez, 'N Sync, Britney Spears, and others.
"NOW 9" includes original tracks from Shakira ("Whenever, Wherever"), Nelly Furtado ("Turn Off the Light"), Incubus ("Wish You Were Here"), Adema ("Giving In"), Spears ("I'm a Slave 4 U"), Mary J. Blige ("Family Affair"), Lopez ("Ain't It Funny"), 'N Sync ("Gone"), Destiny's Child ("Emotion"), Backstreet Boys ("Drowning"), U2 ("Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of"), Aerosmith ("Just Push Play"), Lenny Kravitz ("Dig In"), Ja Rule ("Livin' It Up"), Ludacris ("Rollout (My Business)"), Mr. Cheeks ("Lights, Camera, Action!"), and Ginuwine ("Differences").
The first of the series to include radio remixes, "NOW 9" also features the Sweet Dreams mix of Pink's "Get The Party Started" featuring Redman, the Trackmasters mix of City High's "Caramel" featuring Eve, and the All Cities remix of Petey Pablo's "Raise Up."
The "NOW" series, a collaborative venture between Universal Music Group, EMI Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Zomba Music, has filled nine volumes of single-disc hit compilations since 1998, collectively certified for shipments of more than 28 million U.S. copies by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Each album in the series has charted in the top 10 of The Billboard 200, with the fourth, sixth, and seventh volumes hitting No. 1 on the chart. Last December, two volumes of the series, "NOW That's What I Call Music! 8" (Virgin) and the Christmas compilation "NOW That's What I Call Christmas!" (Universal) both reached the top-5 on The Billboard 200, the first time two albums in one series had accomplished that feat.
