Also included in "Spiels" are Watt's 1983 tour diary, reflecting life on the road with iconic punk trio the Minutemen, as well as an introduction by Watt himself, a foreword by critics Joe Carducci and Richard Meltzer, and a postword by Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore. The Raymond Pettibon-drawn cover art for the Minutemen albums is also included.
Watt is currently working on his third solo album, "Secondman's Middle Stand," due this spring from Columbia. He played a number of songs from the disc on his 2002 Our Oars Became Wings tour, which encompassed a whopping 50 shows over the course of 52 days.
Watt will perform in conjunction with the book launch Saturday at Quebec's Casa Del Popolo. His official Web site, the Mike Watt Hootpage, hints that some Minutemen songs will be dusted off for the occasion.
